Brazilian Minister of Culture visits Daniel De Granville’s photo exhibit in Germany
Our June/2006 Month’s Gallery brings the final selection of photos that are part of Daniel De Granville’s exhibition at the Museum für Völkerkunde in Munich. The exhibit opened on May 23rd and was visited by Brazilian Minister of Culture Gilberto Gil and Munich’s Culture Secretary Dr. Lydia Hartl, among other authorities. Daniel stayed in Germany during 3 months lodged at Villa Waldberta, an international house for artists located by Lake Starnberg, 40 minutes south of Munich.
The 28 photos were organized in different series:
“Bavarian Lions” series:
Four 30 cm x 20 cm images, showing aspects of this animal which is, simultaneously, the symbol of Bavaria and of the 2006 Fifa Soccer World Cup.
“Contrasts” series:
Six 40 cm x 30 cm images, organized in pairs contrasting an image from Brazil with another from Bavaria (“Trees”, “Reflections”, “Water”).
“Munich” Series:
Three 60 cm x 40 cm images showing scenes of the city’s everyday life.
“Brazil” series:
Seven 60 cm x 40 cm images showing nature scenes from The Pantanal, Bonito and Atlantic Rainforest.
“Final Edit” Series:
Two 30 cm x 20 cm images showing the traditional Maibaum celebration in Feldafing, which had originally remained out of the final selection.
“On Assignment” series:
Six thumbnail-style images (8 cm x 8 cm), showing scenes from the photographer working on the field to capture images used in the exhibition.
